Bruce Forster - Photographing the Way the World Works
For more than 35 years, photographer Bruce Forster has been capturing compelling images of the way the world works – images of construction workers erecting a 600-foot television transmission tower, Brooklyn dock workers off loading sacks of coffee beans from South America, railcar workers taking a break in Nova Scotia, a coal-fired generator plant in Wyoming.
Bruce has traveled the world for Fortune 500 clients such as Tektronix, Willamette Industries, and PacifiCorp to capture images for annual reports, capabilities brochures, and other marketing materials. His work has been recognized by Graphic Design: USA, the Portland Advertising Federation, the International Association of Business Communicators, and Portland’s Arts and Culture Council.
After earning an MFA degree, Bruce Forster settled in Portland in 1970 and started building a substantial client base doing fine art, magazine, corporate, and architectural photography. More than 35 years later, Bruce is one of the leading photographers in the Pacific Northwest. He has been capturing compelling images of the way the world works and has traveled the world for Fortune 500 clients. Clients include Mayer-Reed, Portland Development Commission, KPFF Engineers, HDR Inc, Walker Macy, Travel Portland, Metro and Schnitzer Steel.
Bruce has been an active contributor in the stock photography industry since 1985 through Getty Images and is the owner/founder of Viewfindersnw Stock Photography. Offering compelling stock photography with a Pacific Northwest focus, Viewfinders has a comprehensive archive of landscapes & landmarks, aerial photography, cityscapes, urban living, industry, recreation, agriculture and green energy images.
In his Pearl District studio, Bruce has a staff that manages the digital processing, marketing and stock image fulfillment. He is a co-founder of the Oregon Chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) as well as a member of the Stock Artists Alliance (SAA), American Marketing Association (AMA), Portland Ad Federation (PAF) and the American Society of Picture Professionals.
